“Mechanical failure ends Jason’s
night of success at Tri-County”
Cochran Motorsports Inc. The NASCAR Camping World East Series visited Tri-County Motor Speedway for the first time. Twenty-Six drivers took to the 4/10ths mile oval. Tri-County Motor Speedway usually has been good to NASCAR Camping World East Series driver Jason Cochran in the past, being that this is where he began his asphalt racing career. He has racked up several Top 5 finishes since he began there. Out of all the NASCAR Camping World East Series drivers there he has the most laps around the place and also competes there on a weekly basis. For this race Clark Tire & Auto Center and Pepsi Cola came on as sponsors. They are two of the biggest companies in the area. Clark Tire has over 14 stores in the Eastern Carolina areas with its headquarters in Hickory, NC. They are the regions largest individual tire sales store. With these two big names on board, Jason was determined to do really well. Temperatures rose above 100 degrees during
practice, so the team kept cool by drinking lots of Aquafina, Mountain
Dew, Pepsi and AMP Energy drinks and they all survived. Jason piloted
the #72 Clark Tire Chevrolet around the track and set 14th fastest
in practice. The team made some changes before qualifying and Jason
went out and laid down a fast lap of 16.736 which set him starting
the Tri-County 150 in the 12th place. He started the race right in
front of Sprint Cup Veteran Steve Park. We want to thank our sponsors who helped make

Second Tri-County is my home track, I have been racing there since 2003. So I have a lot of laps around the 4/10ths mile track. I’m just hoping to bring the #72 Clark Tire Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS to the front and keep it one piece all day.” Stated driver, Jason Cochran. “I am excited about this weekend’s race, I know Jason is also excited about racing at his home track. But he has also been working hard with Clark Tire. And I am also excited to announce that Amanda Doyle has come aboard the team as our new Public Relations Rep. and she is taking over as the Fan Club Organizer.
